A new 3,000-square-meter pet-friendly space has opened at Longshan Sports Park in Suzhou New District, adding dedicated areas for dogs, families and pet owners to the district’s outdoor leisure offerings.
Built into an open hillside, the new space includes 1,200 square meters of sloping lawn and a 300-square-meter off-leash area, as well as a children’s play zone and a pet-themed café. Separate areas have been created for larger and smaller dogs to provide a safer environment for exercise and socializing.
Other outdoor sections of the park have also been made more pet-friendly, with facilities including waste disposal stations, pet showers and drinking water for animals.
The opening is part of a broader plan to develop pet-related services around the Suzhou New District Culture and Sports Center. More than 1,000 square meters of commercial space is expected to be used for a wider range of pet retail businesses.
A high-end pet boarding facility is also under construction in the Longshan commercial area and is scheduled to open in early 2027. It will provide boarding, bathing, grooming and other services.
Once the planned facilities are completed, the area is expected to bring together pet recreation, themed dining, retail, boarding and grooming services, as well as spaces where owners and their pets can socialize.
The project reflects Suzhou New District’s efforts to make greater use of existing public green spaces while responding to growing demand for pet-friendly leisure and services. The district plans to continue expanding the ways its outdoor public spaces can be used, creating more diverse recreation and consumer experiences for local residents.
